For “Where the Broom…” I scanned a spread from a booklet on Buddhism that my father had marked-up and sent me after he left for Asia when I was a child. Enlarging and printing this spread, I then collaged onto it one of my digitally reworked oil paintings, adding watercolor pencil. With “Branded by her Genetic Mutation” I scanned my drawing from the nude into the computer. I then digitally collaged a portion of my own BRCA1 genetic sequence, downloaded from a PDF booklet of the (unsuccessful) drug company application to patent the BRCA1 mutation, onto the nude.
Media: Epson scanner, Photoshop, InDesign, watercolor pencil, digital output on fabric to be determined (printed, stitched, projected), Epson 2200 printer, oil painting, collage.
